So today went down in the books as my first official day of teaching. Words cannot express just how lucky I feel to be doing something that I have dreamt about my entire life. It seems just like it was yesterday that Kiana and I were pretending to be teachers and students at Grandpa Fisher's house. A lot has taken place since those happy times back in the 90's, but one thing remains the same, I have always wanted to be a teacher just like Grandpa Fisher. He led a great life of teaching and leading others around him. I feel so honored to be a part of his family and to continue his education legacy.
Looking back at this past summer, I have had my fair share of panic attacks of not being able to do this whole teaching scene. Even up until 8:05 this morning, I had not experienced butterflies. Students just poured into my class as if it weren't a big deal. I started my lesson plans and went through each activity with the students, again as if it were not a big deal. I know that there are still difficult times are ahead, but after my first day, I couldn't be more excited to fulfill one of my life long dreams of being an official teacher. So here's to a new adventure, a new scene, and to a new career. I love being Mrs. Durfey.
